Help with broken door scissor on '16 Journey

The soft metal fastener that joins the door scissor just fell out. Got to hit the road Monday to go home from AZ. The '16 Journey is out of warranty. So, I'm on my own. I've heard of people using a ballpeen hammer to flare out the end that sticks through. Need some "MacGyver" help from you guys until I can order a replacement. Is this a dealer only part or can I source one out? Looks like they are pricey, around $150.

  • I have adjusted ours several times. Two heavy duty hammers. One being a baleen is all you need.
  • where the scissors cross each other ?
thats a hinge point, should be harden metal

get a high graded 'carriage' bolt
grind down the square area under the head to where IT is round
install with head on the outside (hopefully doesn't hit anything when closing), nut on the inside, cut off flush, ground head flat if needed
  • A fast solution is some liquid nails or the equiv. I actually like loc-tite better. Get it basically "glued on" until you can get a more perm fix later.

Bend the end that sticks out past the pivot so it contacts the other arm more.
