This is true, especially without a rear slide, and the reason why is not too hard to understand. To have a reasonable rear overhang and height, the rear wheel wells generally come right where you need the side aisles around the bed to be. If the motorhome were built taller, the floor could be completely over the wheels, at the expense of being tippy with an overly high center of gravity, of being pushed around more by winds and passing semis, and of having more problems with low bridges etc. If the rear wheels were placed farther forward, there would be problems with weight balance, with tail swing, and again with wind action.
If you're willing to have twin beds with a center aisle, there are more options.
