Help with replacing Class A tires:

After helping my brother look for a Class A motor home for over a year, he finally found one he likes. The deal closes this Thursday. It is a 2002 Discovery with a 330 cummins, Allison trans., two slides etc. It was checked out by a professional shop.

It will need new tires. It has Toyo 265-5R 22.5 on the front and I don't know what the heck brand of 25580R 22.5 on the back.

For those of you who know this motor home and over all experiences with 22.5 tires, what brand would you put on this motorhome? Toyo all around? I was thinking Hanooks. Looking for advise.

Thank you in advance for all your kind advise.

Carl

  • The 265/75R22.5's which are on the front are about the closest thing you can find that are very close to the Michelin 255/80R22.5 in revolutions per mile (RPM). 537 RPM for the 256/75R22.5 vs. 541 RPM for the 255/80R22.5. (Numbers from manufacturers spec sheets)

FWIW, I replaced my Michelin 255's with Bridgestone 265/75R22.5 R250's this past summer. No noticeable difference in ride, handling, speedometer readings etc.
  • You will get good and bad reviews on both brands. The Toyo will most likely cost a few dollars more than Hankooks and the Michelins would be the most expensive of all the tire brands.
  • I have had bad luck with Goodyears. I have had good luck with Michelins.
  • Michelin is the only maker I am aware of who makes a 255/80R22.5. They make it in the XRV and XZE series.
