Honda Elite 110 Scooter Carrier

The scooter carrier I bought arrived this weekend and to say the least it's "junk". I have three concerns when purchasing a carrier:
1. It needs to be able to be used on my 2010 Jeep Wrangler and clear the spare tire.
2. I need to use the carrier on my 2012 Coachman Concord Class C camper.
3. I need something with a long enough ramp to be able to load the camper on and off the carrier with ease as I will most often be putting it on and off myself.

Thanks!

Then tried a receiver hitch to haul a 150cc Honda Elite. That worked a little better, but still not quite what we wanted. Being in view of possible thieves, partially blocking the rear door, and difficult to keep the scooter from rocking because of the slightly smaller tongue in the reciever.

Found our best solution is a small enclosed fiberglass trailer. Hidden from view, always clean, extra hauling space, can be pulled by our car if need be.

The other thing to watch with a receiver hitch hauler is the weight transfer. The see-saw effect of that weight behind the rear axle.

My Versahaul came with an anti sway/rocking device that firms up the receiver and hitch with three bolts on the device that tightens the coupling.
  • I had a Yamaha Zuma and needed a carrier so I drew a design on a napkin and had a local steel fab place make it. They had their own ideas when I talked with them and between us we came up with a nice carrier. Cost was about $300 for labor and material.
