Samantha - My 2 cents... We do both.
I generally prefer the 4-down approach with the Jeep Wrangler only because it's a bit easier to hook up and there's less to worry about than with the tow dolly. Hook-up time is shorter and easier on the knees and a lot cleaner if it's raining.
However, DW has been known to insist on taking her car along at times and that requires a tow dolly. We have the Demco KarKaddy SS and it's a great product. Among other things, it's steerable so it follows the MH nicely and it also folds to half its length so it can usually be stored behind your MH when camping. Lot of other pluses but they come with a price.
Other than that - Dennis' checklist was a good reference.
