For what it is worth the signal to alert others of an emergency is three loud noises, repeated over time.
3 horn toots, 3 gun shots, 3 taps on a wall, 3 blasts of a whistle, 3 flashes of light, etc.
Whenever you hear 3 of something repeated that means someone needs help.
