Using the VIN you should be able to get the engine specs.

Many of the changes in horsepower and torque were the result of timing, fuel scheduling and turbocharging. The ratings for the pickup truck did not always follow the engines used for other vehicles. My motorhome has a 1999 Cummins 5.9 ISB rated at 260HP/550 ft lbs torque, the same motorhome also came that year with a 275HP rated engine.

The HP of a 5.9 Cummins changed over the years, and in different applications. The year of the 5.9 Cummins could be helpful in determining the HP.
