Hot water heater

Took my RV out for our first trip and couldn't get the hot water heater to work on electric, it worked fine when I fired up the LP but not on electric. Checked the breaker, any other idea's??

Hard to help, without knowing what kind of water heater and motorhome
  • Sometimes, there are two switches to operate the water heater on electric. There is one inside the motor home, and there is often one kind of hidden behind all the plumbing on the water heater itself. Check it with a flashlight, and you might be pleasantly surprised.
  • IF it's a Suburban look for an ON/OFF switch in outside compartment in corner

IF it's an Atwood look for an ON/OFF switch on box that is located on the backside of WH. (inside rig) Some earlier Atwoods used a local switch vs panel mounted
  • Most of the time it's bad connection. Open the door and remove and reinstall all the spade conectors a couple of times.
  • Thanks a million, switch on the side of the heater inside the RV..

I GATHER you found the problem (the switch).

On a few things like anything likely to need your attention, I think the body builders play a game "Where can we hide it?".
