"Suburban offers 2 different temp tstats. The standard is 130 degrees. BOTH LP and 120 are 130 degrees. There is an optional 140 degree. The WATTAGE for your element should be 1440. IF the wattage in your replacement is lower, it still should heat to 130 but will take longer.

I will check out the thermostats - the electric side is working but not correctly.

No, it was the correct part number and matched the old one and it was confirmed as correct by the parts department

Thanks all for your replies, I think I will have to zero in on the thermostat as the water does not get hot enough, hopefully will find the time before we hit the road for a few days.
