I want to go around Houston traveling on I10 from east to west, sometime this summer and was thinking of using I610 to alleviate some of the city traffic. Would also like staying in a decent campgroun...

OK, say we should visit Galveston and avoid Houston altogether. How would route 6 be for our departure from there and getting back on I10 west?
Anybody familiar with that road? I have patrolled it some with the little google man and it looks to be reminiscent of old America. Looks like one might catch RT 99 eventually and go through Cinco Ranch before getting back on I10 for a distance of about 75 miles
