I have on numerous occasions seen rigs and TVs encroaching onto the access road and for you to deny that it ever happens is absurd. No it does not enrage me but maybe, just maybe these folks never thought about the possible consequences of doing so and pointing out what could happen might change their behavior.
I checked out your signature and that is one nice big rig, methinks I may have touched nerve on past behavior (that of course never happened). :B We do agree, I think, that it should not happen and should be addressed when it does. I prefer to speak up to the host or Ranger as opposed to waiting until 1000 and or resorting to your battery - ram (sic), but if you ever do please have someone shoot video and post it here. :B
Let me say this, adding another hit to the dead horse, I do not condone the behavior you speak of. I, along with the majority, just have not seen it. If I did, I would not be OK with it. We have a motorhome because of the campgrounds and the opportunity that comes with that. Sitting outside next to the campfire in different locations is what we are all about. Being 40' limits us a bit, but I am less obtrusive than I used to be with having to figure out what do do with my truck after setting up camp. Bottom line, we are all on your side and I personally would never go where I am told "not" to. It is no fun to have to unhook the Jeep and do a 19 point turn backing up traffic just because you "thought" you could make it. Or being nose first into a campground you can't turnaround in. Because I am 40', and a lot of others here as well think the same, I try not to go where I am not suppose to and I try to research my routes and campgrounds as best I can. I spent too much money on this adventure to risk my family's or the public's safety. Having a big rig requires responsibility and I take it very seriously.

We agree. Folks like you and my friend with his 40 footer are not the problem. This thread will continue to arise from the ashes of this Forum as new folks seek to be told what they want to hear. "Sure you can go anywhere in your 40 something footer" (kind of reminds of "Can I tow this?". :S Those with 40 footers (or a modicum of common sense), know better than anyone that it is simply not true.
So many of our campgrounds were built long before RV's got so large. With the cost of enlarging campgrounds being way down the fiscal priority list (where it belongs), I don't expect that to change anytime soon. There are a couple of very neat CG's I would love to try. I drove the truck only into Cochise Stronghold but there is no way I could safely get my 22' TT in and out of there and the limit is 22'. :S
I guess I have seen more of the oversize rig abuse than you, hopefully neither of us will encounter it again. If it hits a nerve with me thank the chucklehead at Fools Hollow Lake with the 40", triple axel fiver pulled by a one ton crew cab long bed who simply decided to pull to the side of the access road while he waited for his site to clear. Asked him nicely to pull up/move so I could get by. His response was to fold the drivers side mirror in and go back inside, the door slammed in my face was a nice touch. I had to drive 4 feet off the pavement dodging rocks, bushes and trees and still cleared his rig my an inch but was left so far out of position that I could not back into my site.
The Ranger was happy to explain the facts of life to him and he was told to move or leave as he was blocking emergency as well as general access for the entire loop. Watching him struggle unsuccessfully to get into his undersized site was entertaining and after an hour (of continuing to block the road, he was gone but obviously not forgotten. It was a very nice looking rig though. :R
