How Do We Classify an RUV?

Saw my first one today. Thought it was a new Sprinter based brand, but the wheelbase was too long. Going inside the steering wheel emblem was Ford! They called it a "hybrid" "Recreational Utility Vehicle" - a Class A body on a Class C chassis; an E-350 in this case. Looked like it was designed by someone who had actually used an RV before!

Only thing not to like about it -based on comments in a current thread may be the name "Thor". Sold under names Vegas and Axis.

Apologize if this is old news. Missed the local RV shows this winter.
  • Axis website calls it a Class A.

    RV Type: Class A Motorhomes
Coach Style Recreational Utility Vehicle (RUV)
    Engine Fuel: Gas
    Slides-outs: Single
    Lengths: 25 ft. 6 in.
  • My 1972 23 foot Lifetime had an almost identical floor plan, including the drop down bed over the cockpit, and the large front window. Served us well for 20 years and 100 k miles. The V-10 is certainly a great improvement over the Dodge 413! It's suddenly changed our "want one" list.

I also am concerned about carrying capacity. The fact that it's not mentioned in the brochure nor on the website does not bode well. Anyone know if one can be ordered on the E-450?

    Interesting RV. What's your OCCC?
