How do you answer when a stranger asks about MPG?

Depending on who is asking, I get anywhere from 6-16 MPG. I just depends on how I interpret the attitude of the person that is asking. I used to do the same thing with my Classic Cars. All of them get mid 20's and I had a Ferrari that got a little over 30 MPG. If I thought they were serious I will give them the true mileage. If they are tree-huggers, I am less than truthful.
