How do you answer when a stranger asks about MPG?

WARNING: This post is about fuel mileage and how to talk to strangers about it. Many folks get very, very angry when you mention fuel mileage on this forum. They feel as if you should never ever tal...

I always tell them "My apartment gets better mileage than your house"
or
"It gets pretty good mileage for an apartment"
or
"It's smiles to the gallon not miles to the gallon"

Something like that.

I don't track MPG so frankly I don't really know for sure to offer an honest answer.
