A Ford Escort in a station, once asked me how much fuel I burned. After giving him an average, I explained that the overall cost of the trip, is what counted and that I would do better than he could in the car with months on the road, when considering motels and restaurant expense, along with his fuel cost.
As for doing better for MPG, I've found that slowing down and staying at Wally World on occasion, does wonders towards the cost of fuel.
The huge cost of depreciation per mile has to be chalked off to a hobby and least ways, if you own an RV, you won't need another one.
