If you got 8.7 mpg on 80,000 miles, that's 9,195 gallons of fuel for your RV. 40 mpg on 80,000 miles of your corolla is 2,000 gallons of fuel.
I tell them the truth, I get 23 mpg. The way I calculate is that I averaged 8.7 mpg over 80k miles of travel on the MH. I always put at least the same miles or more on my tow car as on the MH exploring the surrounding area the tow car is a light 5 speed manual Toyota Corolla and gets 40 mpgs. The overall mpg is better than travelling in a Class B, truck or large SUV.
So 160,000 total miles you used 11,195 gallons of fuel for an average MPG of 14.29. not 23. You can't average MPG numbers. The math doesn't work that way.
