How do you check zone 1 a/c to zone 2 a/c j11 connection

In zone 1 my front AC unit I have replaced the corroded thermostat 4 wire J11 plugs and connection from zone 1 AC to zone 2 AC. To be sure they are correct should there be 12 volts coming out towards zone 2 AC and which 2 wires (black, red, green, yellow)do I check w/ the voltmeter to be sure? If I can see that the connections I made up are working I will then know that I need to go to the zone 2 AC J11 connections to find out why zone 2 will not show on the Thermostat. Can anyone help?

    In the HVAC trade low voltage wire colors are fairly consistent - not so much with RV thermostat wiring.

    But normally red wire is power
    Yellow wire = compressor
    Green wire = fan
    Blk/Blu = common
    White = heat
    Orange = heat pump reversing valve

    YMMV

    This has no connection to the OP's problem. The OP has a Phone cable type 4 wire communication cable. Doug
    Thank Gawd someone around here actually knows whats going on.. :B
    Thanks again Doug..

    copy and paste and look at page 9. There is no reason to attempt to "measure" any voltage. If the fuse on the board is good and you have replaced the RJ 11 connectors correctly (wires are in correct order---the wires are REVERSED from a standard phone connection). Then you should have no problems. Doug

    This does not picture the OP's system either. Doug

  • So do you suggest I connect the red & the Black on the meter and should it read 12 volts on the side of the connection going to the zone 2 AC w/ the thermostat on? Remember Zone 2 does not show up on my thermostat only zone 1 shows!
