How do you secure items in pass through storage?

What's the best way to secure items in the pass through storage area? I don't want items like tables or ladders sliding around while turning or stopping. I don't enough access to put down straps si...

We don't have a problem with things moving around as we have carpeted bays. Also, I have them fairly full which helps keep things in place. I bought plastic tubs with lids at Costco (milky-white with black hinged lids). These tubs work great as I can stack two on top of each other.

I guess the OP could use empty cardboard boxes to keep things in place if you can't tie down the ladder, etc.
