Those of you who want to see rigs going above 80 MPH head to Texas
NO!!! I've seen these (18's) hitting 85 and sometimes 90 at times here in Texas. And they (truckers) are really pushing it. Once others have faster cars and pass them, over the cb you will hear, "Ok, we have someone out of the box, let's hit it". Some truckers talk back and forth and DPS is in another area due to wrecks and such, etc. It's just not safe. Four to five miles over the limit if you can control your vehicle, etc., and no tickets. Hit that six mile limit and you're hit with same fine of "old plus" (15 mph over) and automatic impound and jail time. Vehicles seized are sold by the county or city for their own profits.
If you are claiming that TX jails people and seizes vehicles for 6 mph I am skeptical. How about some links? I searched and don't see it.
Being Texas I wouldn't be surprised, those cops there have NO mercy and they are greedy. I was working out there and my boss had a truck that wasn't insured pulled over two times on the way back to the farm and got nailed twice. I hate Texas highways and police that I would avoid that place like the plague. I wish the feds would pass laws against search and seizures as it is totally unamerican . After the dust settled I had to be responsible for the insurance for someone ELSE'S vehicle (another thing that needs to be outlawed) if I didn't get a real good lawyer I was looking at 2500 in fines (which also should be outlawed) Sorry I wouldn't be at all surprised if our people's republic of texas would indeed steal a motorhome from a person going only 6 over. wouldn't surprise me at all.
