We owned 2 different Class A's. Both gave little trouble but were very expensive to maintain (Ins., Taxes, Servicing, Tires, campgrounds, etc.) We sold and have never been happier. Anyone wanting to enjoy the lifestyle, and we did enjoy the traveling, just be sure you have ample funds to support it.
There in, lies the question, just how much does it cost! I'm currently looking to buy my first Class A, after being a new retiree, and yes, we're quite close to our kids, and new grandkids, so we have yet to see if we can be gone for long periods (months) at a time. I honestly do 'love' to drive, thus it would only be the fuel cost helping to cement us to a few locations at a time, rather than going for a long period to 'see the country'!
We also love to meet new folks, play a game of pickle ball, go for walks, a bike ride and hike, so there are many things to keep us busy.
Having had inlaws that gave up RVing (age related and health) in their late seventies, they say they where done with it, and loved the time they had over the years, where they still today keep in contact with so many they met while Rving, as well as they joined some RV clubs, and chose to travel in groups from time to time.
I'm still at the early point, where I'm trying to do my research. We'll have our brick & mortar home, as well as an RV to maintain, so the 'cost' factor may end up justifying how long we're away, but overall, I'd like to enjoy the lifestyle while I'm still relatively young, where I can enjoy the many benefit's many of you already enjoy!
