Well, Scott,
It seems, you're kind of asking two different things. Your subject asks how many gas coaches have 50 amp service. Then, read into your post more, sounds like you're really asking about how many come with inverter/charger systems and upgraded coach batteries. Two different questions, with very different answers there. :)
If you're asking for percentages of gas coaches that come with 50 amp service...I'd say a LOT. Probably ALL, when you get over 32' and more than one air conditioner. Only snmaller MHs with a single Air cond. unit would be wired with 30 amp. Everything else, regardless of gas or diesel, is almost certainly going to be 50 amp.
Now, if you're looking for percentages of gas coaches that come from the factory with an inverter/charger and upgraded coach batteries to run things off A/C with the inverter, that is probably quite a bit less with gas coaches. It seems to be getting more and more popular in recent years, though, with all coaches (gas and diesel) moving to residential refreigerators from the factory.
Willald,
Well Sir, while it may have read like that and, some of the nice folks who've taken the time to answer may have thought so too, it wasn't intended to be like that. I most certainly don't follow all the makes/brand/models/kinds/engines/ etc. of all the coaches made, from any given year, that's for sure.
So, based on my limited Dinosaur logic/RV education, I primarily ASSUMED that, about 99.9999% of the gas coaches out there, came factory equipped with a 30A service. I threw in as sort of "logic" that, history (at least as I know and understand it) since I thought that logically, most gas coaches would have only a Converter/Charger and not a full sized 2000 watt inverter/charger like I thought only the diesel coaches were issued. I hope I'm making sense here.
As a side note, our older coach we had prior to the one now was a 1999 Fleetwood Bounder, 34V with the V-10 and F-53 Chassis. It came from the factory with a 30A service, (2) T-105 Trojans, and, TWO A/C units. And yes, it did have a EMS system that would shed an A/C if the amperage available was lower than what was required to run both. It did it on a few occasions.
So, again to all who've contributed to this particular thread, I really, sincerely appreciate all of you helping out here. I was truly not aware that what it appears, a very, very large percentage of Gas coaches, at least in the sort of maybe "upper end" range, come with a 50A service. It also appears that even some of those, may have come with a large inverter/charger instead of the Converter/charger.
I guess it all depends on how it's optioned out at the factory or, at a certain level of build. Thanks again.
Scott
