How often or should you change out Tranny fluid

Hi, I have a general question about transmission fluid changes... I remember many years ago, I had the transmission fluid changed in a Toyota Celica manual transmission I owned, and it wasn't too long...

Drain the pan only replaces about 1/4 of the fluid. It would seem the transmissions do better when 80+% of the fluid is changed. Just drain is fine if you have a plug to drain the torque converter.
