How often or should you change out Tranny fluid

Hi, I have a general question about transmission fluid changes... I remember many years ago, I had the transmission fluid changed in a Toyota Celica manual transmission I owned, and it wasn't too long...

The maintenance schedule in the owner's manual for our 2003 Ford E450 chassis says to change the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals. I've done the change myself in the driveway twice using this procedure. It's an easy DIY job. Hit 90,000 miles on this Spring's trip, so time to do it again.
