I dont ever remember swinging hammers at screws, especially 47 years ago. And when I did reach for a 16p nail in my apron, there werent 20p's in there with them. Why? Because I made the effort to put the right ones for the job in there.
Wow, we use screw guns to hang sheet rock and attach just about everything except framing, they use nail guns for that.
