No, they're both unacceptable -- you just wouldn't know about one of them.

The screw hole in itself is probably not a big deal. Easily fixed.
However, that's not the point for some of us. I would think that if the manufacturer let's a visible defect pass, what about the stuff you can't see which could be far more serious?
