How to adjust oil pressure sender to gauge (potentiometer)?

My oil pressure sending unit went bad and I could not find a direct replacement. I purchased and installed one but the gauge is reading about 30 pounds too high. I thought I could install a potentio...

It would be a lot easier to get the right resistance sender and use pipe adapters if size is a problem. Some gauges are set up so high resistance is a low reading, some the opposite.
