"Caustic solutions" often are corrosive too.
And they are more dangerous to work with.
And when combined with acid, they can produce toxic fumes.
THAT is why most people recommend baking soda.
You used only a "snip" of my post and although I did not give a ratio I did say to dilute first. Heck, in reality if you use enough water you wouldn't need to use anything.:)
