How to get bleach into fresh water tank

Before you hook up your garden hose, Make shure the hose is empty enough you can pour the bleach inside your hose... Then just thread the hose on and turn on the water.. Bleach will be pushed into the tank by the water...

Use a funnel or just fill the tank from a chlorinated water source.

Pop through the nearest auto parts place and spring for a funnel. For a buck or so, they have dozens of varied funnel sizes and shapes used to pour oil/transmission fluid/etc into small holes in awkward places.

Hose idea is great.....funnel will not work as I have no direct place to insert into the tank. I have a hose connection with a lever to switch between city water or fill tank.

I put a faucet with a short (12”) hose on a square plastic 5 gallon bucket. I then fill the bucket about 3/4 full of water, add the bleach, set it on a ladder with the hose in the fresh water intake port and turn the valve on. When it drains dry I fill the tank with fresh water.

Unless you need/wish to super-chlorinate, any municipal water supply should suffice. Rule of thumb, if you can smell the chlorine you have too much.

As stated, Just put the bleach into your empty hose before connecting it to the RV. This will also sanitize your hose.

If you have an external filter, remove the cartridge and fill with the bleach. Reattach the cartridge holder and I'll tank.

Municipal water supply already is chlorinated....I hadn't thought of that. That is such a no brainer....THANKS, I should have thought of that. Also I do have an external filter....another GREAT suggestion.

Just like a swimming pool in the spring. You need to shock the system to kill the nasties. The amount of chlorene in city water systems is so low it is really useless. Who ever said if you can smell chlorene you used too much is dead wrong. Dont believe me, do a web search for sanitizing a water tank,hot tub or swimming pool.
