We had a front entry MH and used throw rugs from the door to the driver's area so never worried about it. They're washable and if the stain is too great they can be replaced. A big help is to watch where you're walking. Most of the heavy stuff can be avoided. We also don't wear outside shoes in the house so it was never tracked throughout the house later on by those same shoes. Good luck!
This is exactly what we do. The little throw rugs are expendable and can be found at any Walmart or Target for a couple of bucks. We also use "house shoes" (slippers) inside.
