Hail damage is not a big deal to most insurance companies. We get damaging hail in this area 3 or 4 times/year. The insurance companies have very streamlined procedures in place to deal with those claims. On cars and trucks, my insurance company will only total a vehicle if the repair cost is over about 70% of the current value of the vehicle. I think that applies to RV's as well.
Hail damage on an aluminum RV is pretty easy to fix. If they total yours, see if you can buy it back cheap and fix it yourself. If you know a good RV body repair shop, let them give you a repair price before accepting the insurance adjuster's offer. You could come out way ahead on this deal.
In the last 3 years, I have had a car and a trailer totaled by hail, and heavy damage to 3 more vehicles. I came out way ahead financially on all of them. Look closely at your options.
