Hurricane!

I am sure I am not the only one doing this, I live on the ocean in Daytona Beach
Picking up the Bornfree tonight, getting it loaded & ready tomorrow
Will watch weather & wait & depart late night when traffic is lighter, as of right now I have no idea the direction I am going or where I will end up, this is not my first rodeo I have lived here 35 years. I am just glad I have this option
Stay tuned
  • You seemed seasoned in dealing with this and that's good. When Florence came through here last year I learned 2 things; you need to leave earlier than you think - wind picks up sooner, traffic picks up sooner, gas stations are out of fuel as well as stores out of food, this all happened 3 days before the storm hit. Second thing I learned was that it took us 3 weeks to get back home. The aftermath is the worst. Power outages, roads closed to debris or water, no fuel or food at stores etc. We thought it made no sense to hurry back to a house that had no power and all the infrastructure is basically still shut down. We had friends that tried to return after a week and got stranded twice in high water on roads. Frankly I really don't understand what makes people ride out storms like this. They think they can save their home - not sure what you would do if a tree falls on your house or the roof blows off, and you put EMS folks in danger trying to save you. I am glad you have a plan and I wish you safe travels and hope you come back and everything is ok. I never appreciated having a MH so much. It's the perfect escape pod.
  • Yes. My RV came in incredibly handy on my last trip to save my boat from another hurricane.
  • Good luck and glad you have the Born Free too. I love mine and I would leave as well
  • Sounds like a great time to plan a trip to Wisconsin. Vist the Dells and have a great time. Or go to Itasca State Park in Minnesota and "walk" over the Mississippi River! I have a feeling you won't find any hurricanes there.
  • I am not near as concerned about wind as I am water, as I have done in the past I will get inland find a recently constructed big box store & park as close to it side as I can. It is relatively each to follow the storm with all the sites tracking it & if really bad I just keep driving
