hwy 1 from san fran to las angeles?

On our Big trip of the yr, DW and I decided all the way to the west coast....
Part of the trip we are looking at traveling down hwy 1 from San Fran to LA..
How are the roads for a 34' motorhome towing a car?
Easy drive? or will I have a "Death Grip" on the wheel?

Thanks in advance for any advice and/or "must see" stops/information.
Pete

  • Well, we did it one time in our 40' towing. I would not do it again going South. If I was going North I might consider it.
  • Don't do it. It was never built for RVs and there are far too many blind corners and switchbacks.

It might just be navigable in a 35 footer but you won't enjoy the experience.

I believe it has a length restriction of 40' in places so you just know that 35' is going to be tight.

If you want to drive it, rent a red corvette and enjoy it that way :)

  • What can I say? It will be an exciting drive. I am from CA and you could not pay me enough to drive that stretch of road in a motorhome.
