Hydraulic Jacks

We have a 1989 Rockwood Driftwood motor home on a P30 frame. The Hydraulic tank fluid tank is low. All I can see on the cap is the word Fenner. Does anyone have any ideal what fluid it might use. I do not have any of the manuals for the motor home.
  • ALL Hydraulic Leveling jack systems use Dextron ATF. Jack systems are aftermarket and are NOT part of the chassis system or part of the chassis manual for fluids. Ford/Chevy/Freightliner/Spartan/Workhorse never installed leveling jack hyd systems. NEVER use any type stop leak on a Hydraulic Leveling jack system. Doug
  • My 1993 HR has a HWH system that takes ATF. That is the GM fluid, not Ford, and was previously known as Dexron I or II. Since Allison (GM) no longer makes Dextron I,II, or even certifies after market products, you may have to look for after market AFT made for a GM or Chevy. (I believe the newer Dexron III is compatible, but I'm not sure. I also believe the newest Dexron IV is not compatible.)
  • Mine takes Dexron III. Be sure to check the fluid level with jacks up and slides in (if slides are hydraulic).
  • Our 1995 P30 Manual says, "GM Hydraulic Power Steering Fluid (GM Part NO. 1052884 or equivalent)".

I just re-read the OP and noticed the topic "Hydraulic Jacks".
Our Quadra Mfg "Big Foot" Hydraulic Leveling System Manual says, "fill with 46oz Dexron I or II.

ATF will work but I'd probably add a Lucas power steering stop leak for something that old. Get two birds with one fill up.
