I-10 west from New Orleans to Texas

About a year and a half ago we traveled the I-10 east, heading back to Florida. My RV felt like it was going to shake to pieces as I traveled on the I-10 E, from the Texas state line to New Orleans. Now we're going to be taking the I-10 west back to Texas. Are the west lanes on the I-10 from New Orleans to Texas in any better shape?

  • I traveled to Canada with the stock suspension and hated it so much that I installed the Kelderman air bags. It's not perfect, but certainly much better than before.
  • Slowing down 5 mph or speeding up 5 mph can often greatly reduce the rhythmic up or down.

An option is to go to the north bridge in Baton Rouge and take US Hwy 190 across to Ragley and then LA-12 to the Texas border.
  • I came across there in October and, frankly, it wasn't as bad as I expected. The long bridge has a rhythm to it that I didn't care for and just west of the Mississippi River bridge at Baton Rouge the road is pretty bad for 20 miles or so. Aside from that, I didn't think it was all that bad. I'll be interested what you think of it after you drive it.
