I think the complaint is that they refused to do anything about it.
I'd say that's a bit of an overstatement. They've actually fixed a lot of them, but the first round (and maybe more) of fixes didn't seem to do the trick. It's a manufacturer's nightmare, and admittedly they haven't done the best job of ending it. Thor would probably argue that they've followed the appropriate course of action, working with the component supplier (Schwintek, owned by Lippert, a major supplier throughout the RV industry), to come up with a solution. I think the problem has been their reluctance to open up their corporate wallet and fix all of the faulty units ASAP, reimbursing owners for their expense and trouble. They've done that in some cases, but not all, and the damage to their reputation has been significant.
But my point is, this has nothing to do with the quality of my Tuscany, their top product line. I still feel I got a great deal on a great coach, and it pi$$es me off that some folks are so gleefully trashing all Thor products, using this debacle as a major example.
Grr.
The thing is, people are not trashing all Thor products, they are trashing the company and its business practices. No one is trashing your personal Tuscany.
x2 - I own a Thor and it's trouble free and we love it and so far the service has been great. But the way they are handling these issues with the Palazzos is absurd. I have good friends that own one and I know first hand the trouble they are having and the reluctance by Thor to fix it. They "repair" but don't fix. Kicking the can down the road until it's out of warranty. No one is knocking your Tuscanny so relax. But it does say a lot about where my head will be when I shop for a DP. Unfortunately Thor won't be at the top of the list. Thor has an opportunity here to say "you know what guys, we messed up with the slides on these units. And we will fix - not repair - any issue related and if that means extending beyond warranty then that's what we will do." Frankly I like the Palazzo, but wouldn't buy one. Now if I knew they would take care of any issues, then I might feel better. I think if people buy a product it's more satisfying if the company stands behind it rather than hanging you out in the wind and they are more willing to take the risk. The Palazzo to me is a risk. Thor could fix that.
