I know...I know...another tire question...

Over the many posts concerning MH tires espousing both good and bad qualities. Seems that there are a myriad of opinions regarding best tires and worse tires. Due to my relatively simple mind, it's a bit confusing. My comment/question is this: I've bought MH tires only twice. Each time Goodyear tires. It's now time to buy again and since I've not had problems with Goodyear except one that blew out but was likely my fault, I'm leaning toward going back to Goodyear. Question: I'd like to hear back from those who have used Goodyear and plan or expect go back to that brand when time to 'reboot'. Please, let's not let this morph into "my brand is the best". Just want to hear from Goodyear owners. / Thanks! / Larry

  • One thing I'm mindful of when it comes to choosing tires at replacement time is, they're the weakest link between your coach and the pavement.

Therefore I can't see saving a few $$$ when replacing tires on our coach. It's understandable most folks have a bias for certain tire brands based on their experience with that brand.

In our case, I chose Bridgestone tires and in our 18 years of RV'ing we've never experienced any tire failures. Of course there can always be a first time.

Good luck with your choice and safe travels...
  • I have had good results with Goodyear's on my motorhome. I would buy them again.
  • Your right! Everyone will share what they think is the best tire:) based on their own experiences! But that leaves you still trying to choose between 4 or more brands of tires????
I have personally used Good Year tires since I started RVing 20yrs ago. Not all my Good Year tires were that good on my then 32' trailer and now 34" 5th wheel. Specifically, the GY tires trailer mtgs. install on new RV's are the cheapest in order to save $$$. After blowing out about 4 or 5 tires and talking with the Good Year engineers back east, they recommended going to 16' rim and tire with an "e" or higher rated tire with at least 10 ply. After making these changes, I have had only a couple of tire problems I had to replace in the last 15 yrs.
When I bought my new 5th wheel (2012 Heartland), I asked the dealer to replace the Tow Master tires with Good Year "G" rated 12 ply tires as a condition of the sale. "no problem" and they changed the tries at the Heartland Mfg. Company. So far after 3 years no tire issues:)
My other reason for choosing Good Year tires is their replacement warranty policies. Every tire that I had a blow out or separation issues was replaced at no cost to me. I did have to bring the tire to a GY dealer who mailed the tire to the company.:):)
  • It sounds like you have had good luck with Goodyear on your motorhome so I would tend to stay with them. I try not to "fix" something that is not broke. So unless you have seen problems like rivering etc. I would not change to something that is not "proven" to work on your coach.
  • I had good luck wih G670's for the time I ran them. Only reason I didnt go back to them was that in 6 years the retail price here had gone up more than $400 PER TIRE. I wasnt going to allow that to eat at my billfold....so I sought out a premium tire at a price I thought was decent
  • Search goodyear if you want to 'hear' from a lot of folks. I know.. another search suggestion. But it works.
  • If you have had good luck with Goodyears go with them again. I changed from Goodyears for financial reasons. My Sailuns were only $255 each out the door.
  • Our RV had Toyo tires originally.

They were recalled, and replaced with Goodyear tires.

When it seemed time to replace the Goodyears, I chose Firestone tires due to the "rivering" problem I had with the Goodyears.

A factor in my tire search was to only buy tires made in the USA. Note that tires may be named with a US brand, but still made in another country.
  • Great I'll follow your post guidelines. I am a former Good Year MH tire owner. Enough said.
