Our MH has roof horns that are old and weak. Also two "snail" horns under the hood. No electric compressors that I can find.
It is possible to dismount the air horns and clean insides. Don't want to do this right now. I would like to buy one LOUD, quality horn, remove one snail horn and replace it with this one.
I can probably find a fuse or relay for the roof horns and disable. So there should be plenty of 12V to run new one and existing snail horn.
I am an electrical/auto dunce.....am I on the right path?
I will spend up to $100 for a dandy new LOUD horn. If they come with a 12V electrical compressor, does this complicate things?
How about specific recommendations, please.
I bought a small set of dirt cheap air horns on Amazon, some years ago, bolted the parts to a piece of scrap metal and then bolted this package down under the hood on a frame bracket. Got the main 12v power at the jack reservoir nearby (any heavy source will do) and jumped the existing horn power to the supplied relay. Works great and petty loud at about 145db. So, now we have the OEM horns going off, the elect. trumpets on the roof and this small set of air horns with it's compact compressor..... AIR HORNS
They pretty much clear the road ahead, so now, I'm thinking of putting a set on each rear corner of the coach, as well and to alert those who can't see my signal lights from either lane, when I wish to change into theirs. Some just have no fear, I guess.
