Louder horns

Thanks for all the good reply's, I asked the question because many years ago an elderly woman in a small town in Southern Missouri stepped off an elevated side walk in front of our dually and 5th wheel. The stock horns did not get her attention, when she finally turned and seen our rig almost on top of her she froze. We somehow missed her as we went by. I will never forget the look on her face! I don't know if louder horns would have helped but don't want to chance another case like that.

It is amazing how many people will cut up off when you are towing a house???? Whaaaat you didn't see the house beside you???? So being an old firefighter I got me a Grover fire truck air horn. The only place I could find to mount it was up under the radiator sideways. Sideways helps so it does not collect slush and dirt and rain into the bell. Still has plenty of sound to the front for my purpose. So now when someone cuts me off or pulls out in front of me I am sure they have seen me. Who know's, might make a difference in the future and they will think twice about pulling out in front of a house coming down the road.

not really a blast you out of your seat horn,

but I have a Ahooga horn on my jeep,

1. the grandkids love it,
2. it gets lots of attention

might try something like that first, as you never know if the guy that cut you off took his meds today.
he may be bat-crazy and come out with a gun, of course I keep mine with me, but in your state you may not be able to have one.

not worth dying over, someone pulling out in front of me.

Reminds me of a recent incident while I was driving my Acura tl with my wife down a 2 lane road and a full size suberban came around the corner towards me FULLY in my lane. I hit the luckily wide shoulder and could see the smile on the texting teen girls face as I swore at her and road the shoulder and she continues past still in my lane.
My wife's response was "you should have used the horn". I laughed and said "I'll remember that next time".

I don't see any problem with adding or changing the horns out on a vehicle.

I won a Hadley in a church raffle years ago. Tried to get a hundred bucks for it but didn't try very hard. Sat in my basement for years. After being cut off several times last summer for towing 60mph in a 70, I remembered I had it and mounted the horns facing down near the existing one on the passenger side. Now I get their attention when they pass me and rudely swing into my lane without leaving me any buffer. Very satisfying.

No joke, I saw a Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot of a Walgreens a couple weeks ago with train horns on roof, pointing sideways and forward. I wondered why.................... It also had 24" rims and 50 series tires. Seemed like a waste of a perfectly good Jeep.
