I need help

Hello I`m looking for someone who knows RV`s to help me. I just bought a 1997 Vectra Grand Tour RV and I tried to connect the power to a 50 Amp power outlet, I`m not getting any power to the unit. I checked the circuits and they are all on, I tripped them and reset them but still nothing. The only thing getting power is the AC and microwave. Please help, thanks Jason
  • If the microwave and A/C work, you're getting power INTO the coach. 50amp circuit sounds like maybe one of the legs on your plug is not getting power. Start with the simple stuff. Using a meter, check the power at the pedestal to make sure you're getting 120V on each leg. Then plug in your cord and check the coach end to see if you're getting 120V on each leg there. Let us know what you find out. My bet is a bad power cord....Dennis
  • I dang near tore my motor home apart trying to figure out why only 1/2 of the rig plugs would work
Finally went to the source at the 50 amp post plug. Faulty breaker!!!!
  • To just say I am getting no power is very vague. Microwave works and AC works so you are getting some power. Do TV's work, do lights work? Do outlets work?
Lights are generally 12 volt while tv's and stuff are 120 volt. Can you start the unit?
Is it possible lights are not working and house batteries are dead??
  • I checked the GFI`s in the unit and still not working also someone said to check the battery disconnect switch but I have no idea where it is. It`s not on the dash or by the door any other places it could be. Thanks for your help. Jason
  • Try not to post the same thing in more than one area. They frown on that sort of stuff.

Also does your cord have a plug on the RV end. If so make sure it is fully seated and it is twisted a little to the right.
  • Yes, check to make sure a Ground Fault Outlet in or outside the camper isn't tripped. Also find and check your circuit breaker panel.
    It's most likely something simple.
