Funny to read this. I started on my information assault and sales pitch bout 3 years before we pulled the trigger. We aren't retired but MH's appealed to my sense of family trips and exploration under our own terms. My wife can't fly due to an inner ear issue, I hate to fly as I used to have to travel a lot for work. We both hate hotels. So a MH seemed a perfect solution. A rolling apartment with all the comforts of home, no need for bathroom stops, and take all our stuff with us. My son and my Mother are very close so we've taken her along on a lot of trips. I catch my wife loving it most of the time, but truth be told she could take it or leave it. For her it's financial and a huge investment. She's an accountant so something as heavily depreciating as a MH makes no logical sense. So what we ended up with is about as entry level as it gets. Given my druthers I'd have a DP but we arrived at a compromise and frankly I consider myself lucky. But she still loves the trips we take. If it were free it's a no brainer. Rv life isn't for everyone. It's a bit of a gamble if your wife doesn't have the bug like you. You remind of my parents. My Dad loves to travel. My Stepmother is a home-body and really has no interest in going anywhere. She's pretty set in her ways. So usually My Dad and I take trips or he goes with his friends. Good luck and I hope it goes well. Nothing worse than wanting to share a passion with the people you love the most and them having no interest. A buzz kill for sure. Don't push too hard, that often backfires.
