I want a rim for my spare

We always carried a fully mounted spare because common sense would lead one to believe it is the right thing to do. We travel in places where the nearest service facility may be more than a 100 miles away. Yes we have ERS to call. Having a fully mounted spare makes things very simply. I agree with the OP.

I know it's heavy. I've moved just the tire into the Toad just as a test. I can do it, but with the rim I may utilize some leverage ideas to make it easier. Work smarter, not harder.

I am no stranger to heavy loads, I was at one time a stagehand and you didn't get to choose what instruments you had to hang. climbing a ladder with a 75 pound instrument in one hand is nothing short of "fun".

Not that young anymore, but I do pick up some larger items.

I would just go with an unmounted spare. Comparing the potential additional cost to mount against the cost of the rim, even a used rim if you can find one that isn't bent, I suspect you can have it mounted several times before the service cost exceeds the cost of the rim. Plus with how much a 22.5 inch assembled tire and rim weights just move it around when it's in the way is going to require and all hands working party. That alone would have me deciding against the rim.

I believe the 8 hole 22.5" wheel is somewhat specific to the F53 and F59 chassis. Most 22.5" truck wheels have 10 holes. When we first got our 2013 Adventurer with the 22.5" tires I also tried to find a matching rim. The only ones I could find were through Ford. If I recall correctly the aluminum rim (made by Accuride) was about $730.00. A steel rim was in the $500.00 range. I couldn't find any from after market sources or salvage yards

You say you're not gonna be the one to change it, correct? Yet, you're stating that for now, you may use your toad to store the spare, if and when you get one, correct? Well, just asking here, have you EVER actually manhandled a 22.5" tire and wheel, steel or alloy? Both are seriously heavy.

Way back when I had my rear duals off for some polishing and, some other maintenance, I actually weighed both the alloy wheel and tire and the steel inner, wheel and tire. The alloy one, came in at 147 lbs. The steel one, 167 lbs. Both at the time, were sporting Michelin XRV 255 80 22.5 tires. Now, in my book, those are pretty darn heavy. I'm 6'2.5" and, at the time, about 235-240 lbs. (depending on how many donuts I've had lately) and while I'm not in Arnold Schwarzenegger's class, I do consider myself still somewhat capable, even at the ripe old age of 65.

I use a tire/wheel dolly when removing them from the hubs and, re-installing them. Trying to do it any other way, is pretty tough. Yes, you can do it with a long bar to act as a lever/jack if, you know what you're doing.

But, you don't say how your toad will carry that spare. Is it a pickup, will you carry it in the bed, what?

I'm not intending to change it. I'll call roadside assistance. If I have the spare ready to go I'm back on the road in short order versus trying to source the right tire.

I hope that you are a big 'ol boy if you want to change that tire on the road by yourself. The lug nuts are torqued far beyond any number you may have changed before, and unless you can roll the tire up on something other than your foot you won't get it anywhere near the lug studs.
You worked hard to buy that nice RV. Spend a little more and save yourself a hospital visit. Let the pros change it if you ever need it done.
