Has anyone come up with a good technique or product for supporting the bathroom toiletries better in the bathroom cabinets to keep them from moving around so much during travel? The shelf they sit on has a wooden 1/2" to 1" lip but it seems it would be nice to have additional support higher up that could be easily removed once stationary. i.e. using dowels or cords that would be placed without blocking closure of cabinet door? We can be creative but thought why recreate the wheel if ideas already out there.Thanks,Stacy

If you travel a lot, you may want to just put things into a small box or bag when traveling...to and move things into the cabinet when you stop.Some people use those extension rods that are used for curtains...they come in various sizes...and put those in the cabinet. They also work great in the fridge:)Making a cardboard box with cardboard and duct tape will also allow you to make something that is "custom" to your needs, though probably won't look really great (unless you use one of the colored duct tapes:))If you are also asking about a way to keep the cabinet door shut, so things don't fall out, I'd suggest a bungee cord with a screw-eye on each side of the cabinet.Good luck:)

Silverware drawer inserts may help. That is what I use. The other thing that may help is anti-slip sanding mat, like what you can get from Rockler. If you are handy and like building cool custom stuff, you can buy plexiglass sheeting. Heat it with a hair drier, or paint stripper gun, and bend the plexiglass edge so you have a flange to keep things in place.

Just go to WalMart and look for small narrow/long plastic containers in the 'storage organization' dept. We've used them for 16 years and nothing has fallen out of our cabinets when the door is opened and things stay upright. I also use them for my spices - just pull one out to look for a particular spice. Easy!

Those little baskets are about 3 for a $1, can get them at the Dollar Tree. Have used them for many years in the bath and kitchen.

You will want to put all the containers as close as possible, and then cut a piece of foam to hold them in place, keeping a slight pressure on them.You could adjust the foam by cutting it, as needed, and a fairly small piece from a craft store, would last a looooooooong time!

Cut a piece of lexan or plexiglass about the same size as the cabinet shelf. Before travel, bow the plexiglass slighly to fit inside the cabinet side frames, creating a barrier to keep the items on the shelf in place. When at destination, remove the plexiglass.

Two small eye bolts with a small bungee cord stretched between them works for us. I can get bottles in and out when I want without moving the bungee cord but items do not fall out when I open the door. I clip my hair clips to the bungee cord, too.

We found at Home Depot, Lowes and a place near us called Do-It-Center, clear plastic trays that are about 4" wide, 2" tall and in different lengths. I mixed and matched them to fit in the shelves. Because they're clear, it's easy to see what's in them.

Take a piece of foam the same size as the shelf about 2" tall and cut out the same size foam as the bottle - mouth wash - etc !
This would keep each item in place and won't jump out of the foam!

X2 - works great in the kitchen for storing glasses, etc. as well.

Thank you for the ideas! This is really fabulous to have this forum and to get such quick responses from "the community". I think we can definitely incorporate the tension rods, foam, and boxes where appropriate.
