To the Original Poster: you delineate well all the drawbacks of a towable in your initial post.
Here's the opinion of someone who actually owns a B.
I use my camper van for extended solo roadtrips, often staying in a place only one night. I don't think you can beat a B for this type of travel. Yes, a B is foot-for-foot probably the most expensive RV out there but .... the benefits outweigh the costs, IMO. I couldn't and wouldn't go back to a towable unless I profoundly changed my style of travel.
When in CGs, I rarely hook-up to water, relying instead on the onboard system. That way, I only have to pull the plug and I'm off. I don't know why someone would question how quickly this can be done (unless, of course, they've never done it).

I think with an RV you should get what you want. You may save money by sticking with what you have but will you enjoy it?
