install new front cap

A pick up coming South as I was going North at about 55MPH decided to turn left in front of me. The out come was not good. Best thing no one hurt. Totaled his truck. I went over his hood and was on two wheels. I thought I was going over. Any way Freightliner checked me out no frame damage. Everything mechanical except steering linkage looks good. Lots of fiberglass destroyed. Question is....who or what type of a shop would you consider to replace the front cap?

  • Insurance company would know where to send it for repairs. Phoenix is a big city I am sure there would be something in the area.
  • 2008 Discovery 40X. Very scary.....I was sure the driver of the pick up was a goner. He was blinded by the sun. I didn't have time to hit the brakes.
Factory is too far away. I'm in Phoenix. Factory has to make the cap plus other stuff. Basically entire front cap windshield and everything on driverside below the floor back to the slide out and the first cargo door on the slide out.
I'm most concerned about the fit and seal of cap and windshield.

    Probably the factory.

Best bet. Let the insurance company deal with it.
  • We lost our whole front panel, including the window. We were towed to a body shop, and it worked with our insurance to replace it. The factory had to build the whole thing. The body shop repainted the piece to match the picture they found online.

We were fortunate that there was no damage to the structure.
  • Might help with a year and model. Insurance usually will handle finding what you will need. A body shop that handles fiber glass, if they will work on a RV.
