Installing dryer vent?

When installing a dryer vent........how do you locate the studs in the wall? If anyone has installed a dryer vent, would like to hear from them, about how they went about cutting the hole etc. Thanks
Brian
  • I was able to find a blueprint on-line that showed where the dryer vent should be installed in the side wall. Then I used a 4" hole saw to penetrate the sidewall. A couple fittings and a plastic cover from Home Depot and it works like a charm.

Magnetic Stud Finder Old school technology is alive and well, and still used. :W

  • I don't think a magnetic stud finder would find the studs as most studs in RV's these days are aluminum.

On a moist morning I can usually see mine. Might try misting the side early in the morning. I would think a stud finder would find them.
  • Park with that side facing the sun, the metal stud locations will be hotter than the rest of the insulated wall panels.
