Installing Operating Skylite In Winnebago Aspect

I have a 2007 Winnebago 29H Aspect and I am thinking about a skylite in living area. I have noticed that Winnebago is installing a very nice operating skylite in the newer models. I am wondering if anyone has in stalled one in a 2005-2008 Aspect roof. I am not sure if they changed anything in the roof in 2009 and later. It looks like it should work. I have installed several Fantastic fans in various motorhomes. It is a little scary to cut a large hole in your roof.

  • Make sur there is no wiring in the area you have to cut.
  • As far as the insulation factor goes, I have had many skylites in the 8 rvs I have owned in past and never felt need for insulation in the skylites and we have done a lot of winter camping. The newer double skylites are like dual pane windows. I have also been a home builder and installed many skylites in homes with no problem.
  • I'm thinking, for next summer, to remove the inner skylight cover in the shower and see if a piece of reflectix will fit loosely between it and the roof dome cover. I don't want it pushing against the roof dome and risk creating a leak.
  • I would ask how many people put pillows or some other cover on their skylights to keep out the heat. Maybe in SD that is not an issue?
  • Why not contact Winney and see what you can find out. There is also a local dealer there that might have the info you need.

We noticed the sky light they install now. Thought it was pretty nice.
