Insurance wtf???

Getting ready to close a deal on a 2008 Winnebago Journey 39z. Calling around getting quotes for insurance. Comprehensive and liability of course.

I'm getting quotes between $2000 and $2500 a year. That's what i pay for homeowners insurance on $200k of home, $150k in out buildings plus contents.

What are yall paying?

Are you quoting full timers insurance, Or a add on to your auto policy ? A full timers policy is like a homeowners policy including items that are on your current homeowners and unneeded duplicates unless you don’t have a house. My policy when we had a house was much cheaper as it was essentially a auto policy.

You are paying too much for for your Home at $2500 a year for a 200k House - You need to seriously shop around for both. I have a 2008 Gulf Stream 40Ft on Freightliner Chassis runs about $1200 Per year - which is about $400 per year higher than my homeowners policy on my $350K house - Through Allstate - Good Luck Shopping

I live on the MS Gulf Coast. The bulk of our insurance costs are Wind Insurance. We get frequent tropical storms and hurricane's. I expect it to be high.

I'm still calling, checking everyone who will insure it. Talk about an aggravating afternoon....

  • My Prog quote came back high initially but when reading they had included coverages that were similar to homeowners liability with high limits, ask the carriers for a printout to be e mailed so you are seeing everything they are including. There may be portions which are outside what is required or what you want.
  • So National General says I need a commercial policy since the vin # is a freightliner commercial chassis :S
  • Progressive has come in at $1900. Will try the other mentioned
  • Try Progressive or Millers RV insurance. Make sure you get an agent that is familiar with RV insurance policies....
  • I pay around $500/year on my 2006 gas motorhome I bought for about 40K. I suppose location has some impact on premium and of course, your house is not going to run over anyone at an intersection or slide off in a ditch on a rainy day. :)
