Interior fans for Norcold fridge

Or you can buy a small blue fridge fan from Camping World. I have one. I used it all the way across the country and back. It uses 4 D cells. It was still running strong after 5 weeks of non stop use. I think it was $15.

I have installed them on 2 different refers. I purchased them on ebay, just google norcold refer fans. There are 2 ways to wire them up, if your door switch provides a ground for the light then there is 12 v power to the light all the time, you can connect into this power wire. The ground for the fans is through the condensing fins. If the door switch provides 12v to the bulb and you wire as previously mentioned the fan will only come on when the door is open. (don't ask me how I know). In this situation I pushed a small 18 ga. wire down through the drain tube and connected it to the wire going from the circuit board the the door switch. The fans did seem to help on both occasions. The fans I purchased came 2 computer pancake fans mounted to aluminum with guards covering the fan blades with an alligator to mount to the cooling fins. Yet another fridge problem. I really wish the engineers of RV fridges would get it right!!!! Yes, the fans will help some, and I would buy the D cell one. Though I'd never hesitate to say that in my 3 coaches the best move I've ever made was to switch to both the small dorm fridges and 1 full size in the bounder. Frozen ice cream is nice.

You can pick up the +12Volt by the light switch of the fridge and the ground by the light. I have used a 3" 24 Volt computer fan on my former Dometic.
The fan ran nice and slow on the 12 Volt DC. The low speed is just what you need.

You need to be a little careful what and how you mount the internal fans. While a 'D' cell fan is certainly better than nothing, the point is to move air across the rear fins.... all of them. The problem with the eBay fans is that they move air around maybe 6" of the fins, what they all get very cold. After trying them all I settled on a fan mounted behind the light and blowing left to right moving air clockwise around the box. This particular one is a Noctra 3" fan that is dead silent and moves plenty of air at less current than anything else out there. Having just changed the cooling unit over to Helium, it gets much colder, and with the internal fan and picking up the same temps in the fridge (31) anywhere I measure it.

Depending on model of fridge, and in the case of the 1200, s/n there are different ways to install the fan because you may not have internal power within the box, but thats fixed by a small wire snaked' up the drain tube.
