Interstate 80

Getting ready to head for Illinois on Interstate 80. Has anyone driven that route lately and what are your thoughts. I normally take I 40. For some reason the GPS says to take 80 and also taking it because it may be cooler than 40 and my wife has never seen those states. Thoughts please. Last time I took it was about this time of year 13 years ago and Wyoming was very windy in places. My living room slide cover came unreeled 3 times. Are there many towns and how are the RV parks?
  • One good over night stop off is Little America. Truck stop but not much noise. Trucks are way over on east side. Unfortunately they closed the restaurant. Fast food only.

Just watch wx reports for high winds.

or 511. The area to really watch for wind is from Rawlins to Cheyenne.
  • Just finished a 3 month trip to the midwest. Used I-80 off and on.

Here is a great site: http://roadnow.com/i80/rv-parks

Windy in Wyoming, as usual, but if you are going the right direction your mileage will improve!

Gas was heapest in Wyoming @ $2.129!! In Iowa super unleaded is $.30 cheaper than regular!!! Nobody knew why, but was that way everywhere.

    Travel safely!
