inventory and carry critical spare parts

Last trip left us with a broken slide out. On road repair was not an option. local shops (even my home dealer) did not have the motors used in a coachmen freelander. All this setup a return trip that was less than fun.

My solution, take spare parts along on net trip.

I made a list of things that might need repair or replacement and order extra.

(1) motors for slide out (you know it will happen again)
(2) belts for vehicle
(3) fluids
(4) new spare tire ( unit did not come with one
(5) fuses for coach and vehicle
(6) a better tool kit
(7) duct tape ( the ultimate fix)

Knowing this is common knowledge for the experienced RVers, but to newbies like me ... another learning opportunity.

Best Regards
  • The motors are very small 12 volt cylinders so they take up very little room.

Good things to add to the list, thanks
  • yep, I also carry jumper cables and spare dump valve along with all the above stuff..

  • Mostly I agree that carrying spares is a good idea. I can understand why you would want the motor, but in my case, with the very limited cargo space available, I would forgo the motor.

  • Good list but you may also want to carry some plumbing items...washer replacement kit, clamps, Atomic Tape, plunger...ect.
